ST. LOUIS — No injuries were reported after two 16-year-olds fired shots during an investigation involving St. Louis County officers Monday evening in north St. Louis, the city's police department said.
Shots were fired at about 5 p.m. at Acme and Lena avenues, near the city's border with Jennings, according to the department. Officers from St. Louis County were investigating a stolen Audi Q5 believed to be involved in several car break-ins and business burglaries.
The car fled and police began a pursuit, which ended near Acme and Lena avenues after officers deployed spike strips. At some point during the pursuit, at least one St. Louis County police officer and the two suspects exchanged gunshots.
Two 16-year-olds were taken into custody, St. Louis police Lt. Col. Eric Larson said. Four guns and two stolen cars were also recovered.
Police initially told 5 On Your Side that two other suspects escaped by blending into a nearby block party, but investigators said Tuesday that officers aren't looking for any additional suspects.
A St. Louis County police spokesperson declined further comment on the incident and deferred to St. Louis police, who were requested to lead a use-of-force investigation.
