Boil water advisory lifted for portion of Jefferson, St. Louis counties after main break

The main break occurred Thursday morning in unincorporated St. Louis County.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — UPDATE: Missouri American Water announced the boil order was lifted as of 1 p.m. Sunday.

PREVIOUS: A 48-hour precautionary boil water advisory was issued Thursday for a portion of northeast Jefferson County and southern St. Louis County as crews make emergency repairs on a main break.

The affected area roughly begins at Baumgartner Road to the north, stretches from west to east between the Meramec and Mississippi rivers, and ends at the southern point where the rivers converge.

Public Water Supply District 10 in Jefferson County, which purchases water from Missouri American Water's affected water line, is also under the advisory.

The main break occurred Thursday morning in unincorporated St. Louis County. Missouri American Water said emergency repairs could take around 8-10 hours.

The affected area may experience a service interruption or low water pressure.

During the boil advisory, water used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for three minutes. Water can be used as normal for bathing, washing and other uses.

Customers will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
