ARNOLD, Mo. — If you've ever wanted to dabble in crafting but couldn't commit to a weekly class or a fee, you might want to check out the crafting classes at the Jefferson County Library District.
Now may be the time you're looking for a reason to learn how to sew or complete an unfinished project. The Jefferson County Library in Arnold is hosting a free workshop from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The library district hosts a few different types of crafting workshops, including quilting and sew-ins. This is a free service that can often be pricey if you pay for those classes at a craft store.
In Arnold, there is a MakerSpace area that allows people to work on craft projects. For its sewing class, you can bring your own project and use the library's equipment. Library staffers are also available to help, though it should be noted that no one is there to work on your alterations.
There are other events happening throughout the district that encourage crafters to get together. The Jefferson Star Quilt Guild hosts a monthly sew-in for members and non-members alike. This gives people a chance to bring in their own projects or learn more about sewing and quilting. You also don't need to register, but if you want to learn about the sew-ins, you can click here.
On Fridays, you can also join the Arnold Branch's yarn crafting club. This is for all crafters 14 and up and is in the Arnold Inspiration Space. The class itself is called Needles & Hooks, and you don't have to register.
Some classes have age restrictions and others are sporadic, so make sure you check with the library district.
