ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A man was charged Friday after police said he robbed a Dollar Tree cashier at gunpoint in St. Louis County.

Antoine Montgomery, 33, was charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action in connection with an April 17 robbery at a Dollar Tree on Larimore Road.

According to charging documents, surveillance video showed Montgomery and another person pull up to the store in a white Chevy Impala with "distinct" damage to the trunk and bumper. The other person in the car goes into the store first to buy an item, then Montgomery enters to carry out the robbery.

Charging documents said the video showed Montgomery getting out of the car with a black bag, walking into the store and pointing a gun at an employee. Police said Montgomery demanded cash from the register, and one of the employees used their employee number to open the drawer and retrieve about $600 in cash.

Less than a day later, police spotted the Impala and pulled the car over. Police said Montgomery was the only one in the car during the stop, and police said his tattoos, hairstyle and build matched the person seen on the video carrying out the robbery.

Police said Montgomery spontaneously told police he just bought the car the previous day, and police said that would mean he bought the car less than an hour before the robbery occurred.

Police said they found 28 $1 bills in the car door and $200 in cash on Montgomery when he was taken into custody.

A judge set Montgomery's bond at $100,000, cash-only.
