Driver dies after crashing into north St. Louis home early Friday

Police said the driver was speeding down Theodore Avenue when his SUV left the roadway and crashed into a home on Plover Avenue.

ST. LOUIS — A man died early Friday morning after his SUV crashed into a home in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the deadly one-vehicle crash happened at about midnight Friday in the 5200 block of Plover Avenue, located in the city's Walnut Park East neighborhood.

Police said the driver, 36-year-old Lester White, was speeding southbound on Theodore Avenue when he left the roadway and crashed into a home.

Police said the driver was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

Accident Reconstruction assumed the ongoing investigation.

No other details were available as of Friday morning.
