ST. LOUIS — Several teenagers were allegedly involved in a violent fight outside the Saint Louis Zoo over the weekend.

The zoo said its security team responded to a call at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday about a group of people gathered, arguing outside the north entrance at Government Drive. When security arrived, the group left the zoo grounds and went across the street where they had apparently stopped fighting once the police were called.

Preliminary information revealed that no one reported an assault or filed a police report.

Sgt. Charles Wall with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said that the department responded at about 5 p.m. after zoo security called them about a fight at the north entrance of the Saint Louis Zoo. The violence was caught on video and posted on various social media.

Wall said when officers arrived, they saw several groups of teens; however, they did not see anyone fighting.

There was no further information provided regarding the incident as of Monday evening.

"The zoo takes security very seriously and takes great pride in being a location that is safe and family-friendly," a spokesperson with the zoo said in a statement.
