16-year-old shot multiple times during attempted robbery in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A 16-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon during an attempted robbery in north St. Louis, police said.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday at North 23rd and Angelica streets in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The boy was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

In an evening update, police described the boy's condition was listed as "stable."

Witnesses told police the suspect was possibly driving a black Nissan sedan.

Police said the victim refused to answer officers' questions about the incident, but he allegedly told a witness that the suspect tried to rob him before shooting him.

The investigation was ongoing as of Friday.
