ST. LOUIS — A former youth sports coach from Fenton admitted on to arranging to have sex with an undercover St. Louis County police detective who was posing as a 13-year-old girl.

Trevor White pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in St. Louis to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. The 41-year-old from Fenton was a youth athletic coach for over 10 years.

White was friends with the girl's parents. As part of his plea agreement, White admitted to starting a text conversation with the girl at 10:33 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2023. During the conversation, he asked for her photo and sought a "positive response" from her through a series of messages about her clothing and their past interactions, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He ended by sending her a shirtless photo of himself.

The girl reported the messages to her parents, who contacted the St. Louis County Police Department. Her parents allowed a detective to use her phone and continue the conversation while posing as her.

Over several days, White became "increasingly sexually explicit," requested explicit photos from the girl and sent her two explicit photos, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. He also arranged a meeting to pick her up and take her to a park to have sex.

Detectives went to White's home on Sept. 29 to interview him, and he admitted to sending her the texts, as well as asking her to send explicit photos and trying to arrange to have sex with her.

White's sentencing is set for July 16. He faces between 10 years and life in prison.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
