Tornado, severe thunderstorm warnings expire in Metro East

Weak tornadoes, quarter-size hail and damaging wind gusts were all risks Sunday.

ST. LOUIS — Areas of the Metro East were put under tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings Sunday evening.

A severe thunderstorm warning expired in Clinton, Marion and Washington counties at 7 p.m.

Severe thunderstorm warnings expired for Bond and Fayette counties at 6:15 p.m.

The tornado warning expired for Fayette and Marion counties at 6 p.m.

The afternoon line of storms moved over the Mississippi River and gathered moisture and heat, powering some storms. The isolated storms grew to be severe. Risks Sunday afternoon included weak tornadoes, quarter-size hail and damaging wind gusts.
