ST. LOUIS — After two summers operating as a seasonal concept, Take Root Hospitality’s Taqueria Morita will open in a permanent home next Thursday, April 4.

The restaurant, in its new home at 4239 Duncan Ave. in the Central West End’s Cortex Innovation District, is set to grow its operations, both launching a lunch service and expanding its Mexican-inspired menu.

James Beard-nominated Take Root began moving Taqueria — which originally opened in May 2022 in the garden-side pavilion space at Vicia, Take Root’s flagship restaurant — into its new home in January after securing the space late last year.

Its new lunch offerings will include “quick and tasty” options, such as a chicken torta and a rice bowl with a choice of achiote chicken or mushroom barbacoa.

Taqueria’s tacos will still be prominently featured on its dinner menu, which has been expanded to include more “fun seafood options,” large-format entrees and build-your-own-feast options.
