HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — A litter of puppies was rescued on Monday.

Sergeant Dennis of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office found the puppies in a creek near the 5500 block of Ruth Drive in House Springs, Missouri.

A Facebook post from the sheriff's office shows an improvised cage with five tan puppies in it. The cage was a plastic storage tub. The puppies were abandoned.

Dennis immediately called Jefferson County Animal Control and the puppies were taken to safety, a Facebook post said.

The puppies are listed as strays on Jefferson County Animal Control's website. They estimate the puppies are one month old. The website says they are available on March 14, 2024.

The sheriff's office asked the public for information on who may have dumped the pups. Anyone with information was asked to call 636-797-9999 and ask to speak with a deputy.
