ST. LOUIS — Danni Eickenhorst in the coming weeks needs to hire between 50 and 60 employees, as she’s currently prepping to open three restaurants.

First up, she will next month open Steve’s Meltdown as a brick-and-mortar stand at the City Foundry STL Food Hall in Midtown. And later this spring, she will open a second location of Steve’s Hot Dogs and The Fountain on Delmar, a spinoff of The Fountain on Locust, in Maker’s Locale, a $4 million event and dining complex coming to the Delmar Maker District.

For these openings to proceed as planned, Eickenhorst will first need to find enough workers — something which is nowadays easier said than done.

About half of restaurateurs surveyed nationwide for the National Restaurant Association’s 2024 State of the Restaurant Industry report said they need more employees than they currently have on staff to meet customer demand.
