WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. — The landlord of a popular sports bar that announced its closing last week previously sued the business, alleging it has overstayed its lease and owes back rent.

Weber’s Front Row restaurant and sports bar in Webster Groves was sued Jan. 9 by its landlord, Finishing Products and Supply Co., which claimed that the establishment owed nearly $35,000 in back rent, insurance and taxes and had “failed to vacate” when its lease ran out Dec. 31, according to a lawsuit filed in St. Louis County court. Weber’s Front Row has occupied the freestanding building at 8169 Big Bend Blvd. since the restaurant opened in 1992.

Restaurant owner Bob Weber said that the restaurant group’s attorney is negotiating with the owner’s attorney over the final amount due, and that the restaurant had been in talks with the owner about the total when the owner’s attorney filed the lawsuit. Weber was just served with the suit Tuesday, he said.
