KIRKWOOD, Mo. — When it comes to the art of French pastry, one St. Louis County bakery is making masterpieces, according to Yelp.

The crowd-sourced review website earlier this month ranked the croissants from Nathaniel Reid Bakery, located at 11243 Manchester Road in Kirkwood, No. 2 out of all of the U.S. and Canada.

According to Yelp users, the bakery's chocolate almond croissant is a must-try.

"Their chocolate almond croissants are more than incredible!" Elizabeth S. wrote. "I've eaten this dessert in multiple cities in France, and countless other cities - no contest!"

"The mix of textures - crispy layers, gooey chocolate and that almond crunch - hit the spot," Tri P. wrote. "Not too sweet, just the right amount of indulgence."

"Why travel hours to Paris when you could enjoy a Nathaniel Reid chocolate croissant right here in STL?" Eliana J. wrote in a review.

The bakery addressed the ranking on its Instagram. "We are honored…" the post said in part. "Thank you to our incredible community for your continued support."

Nathaniel Reid came next only to Munchkins Donuts Shop in Covina, Canada, on Yelp's Top 100 croissants list. The Canadian bakery is known for a croissant stuffed with jalapeno, ham and cheese.

According to the Nathaniel Reid Bakery's website, the bakery took sixth place on Yelp's Top 30 Spots for Croissants in the U.S. and Canada in 2023.

Chef Nathaniel Reid opened his namesake bakery in 2016 after working in top pastry kitchens around the world, according to its website. The bakery offers a "carefully curated" menu of French pastries, sandwiches and confections from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
