ST. LOUIS — Jason and Nicole Thompson first began drafting a business plan to open a brewery in St. Louis more than a decade ago. Now, that dream is a reality, as the husband-and-wife duo last Saturday opened Blue Jay Brewing Co. at 2710 Locust St. in Midtown.

Blue Jay will seat 49 guests inside its 3,600-square-foot brewery and taproom. It shares a 2,000-square-foot courtyard patio with the development’s other tenants.

Blue Jay will predominately focus on European- and German-style beers, with plans to have four year-round offerings and four rotating offerings on tap, Jason said. The company can produce 1,000 beer barrels per year.

It additionally has a kitchen, which Blue Jay plans to open “at some point” with the help of pop-up vendors.

The Thompsons said they hope to benefit from their location near soccer stadium CityPark, and they plan to integrate themselves into the community through various collaborations and events.
