Thanksgiving Day Maryland Heights fire reignites overnight

According to Maryland Heights Fire Protection District Fire Chief Steve Olshwanger, the Thanksgiving Day fire was major, but no one was hurt.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Hours after firefighters declared a Thanksgiving Day fire in Maryland Heights under control, crews were back at the scene to fight the flames once more.

Firefighters first responded to an apartment fire in 2000 block of Silent Spring Drive Thursday evening. Firefighters were on scene around 8 p.m. The fire was declared under control by 8:45 p.m.

Around 2:30 a.m. Friday, police told dispatchers the fire had reignited. Insulation and support beams in the attic caught fire again. 

According to Maryland Heights Fire Protection District Fire Chief Steve Olshwanger, the Thanksgiving Day fire was major, but no one was hurt.

The Friday morning fire was a rekindling of the Thanksgiving Day fire, Olshwanger said.
