67-year-old woman killed after crashing into stopped traffic on St. Charles County interstate

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A 67-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning after rear-ending another driver during standstill traffic on eastbound Interstate 64 in St. Charles County.

The other driver was moderately injured in the crash. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the incident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday on eastbound I-64 near State Route 364.

A 48-year-old man from Silex, Missouri, who was driving a Ford F-350, had stopped on I-64 due to traffic congestion ahead. The woman was driving a Honda CR-V behind him and struck his truck.

St. Charles County paramedics transported the man to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Paramedics pronounced the woman, identified as Karen Sweeney, 67, of Foristell, Missouri, dead at the scene. 

There were no other reported injuries.
