St. Louis officer injured after responding to behavioral health crisis

The officer had minor injuries, police said.

ST. LOUIS — Police confirmed a St. Louis officer was taken to a hospital Saturday after they were injured on duty.

A St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officer had minor injuries after someone punched them, causing them to fall and hit their head.

The officer was responding to a behavioral health crisis with the Crisis Intervention Team, according to initial police documents.

The officer was taken to a hospital in an ambulance. Multiple police vehicles shut down roads in the area and followed the ambulance to the hospital.

The incident happened on the 4300 block of Dardenne Drive, on the border of the City of St. Louis and Pine Lawn.

Police did not immediately provide details about what led up to the incident, including the status of the subject of the CIT call. It was not immediately known if the subject would face charges.
