ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A woman died Wednesday after she was struck by a car just after midnight in south St. Louis County.
The crash happened early Wednesday morning on southbound Interstate 55 near the Lindbergh Boulevard interchange, Cpl. Dallas Thompson with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The woman, 43-year-old Randii Smith of St. Louis, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was later pronounced dead, according to MSHP.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, according to the highway patrol. Police are still looking for the vehicle but did not provide a description of the car.
No other information about the incident was available as of Wednesday morning, including whether the driver will face charges.
