LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. — Police gave the all-clear to residents Thursday evening after a domestic disturbance call led to a police standoff at a Lincoln County home.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Alyssa Erson said deputies responded to a home on Winding Woods Drive north of Troy. As they were walking up to the home, they thought they heard gunshots coming from inside the home.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether shots were fired.

Two women were safely taken out of the home and a police perimeter was set up around the area, Erson said. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene as a search began for a man in connection with the incident.

The sheriff's office asked people nearby to stay indoors and away from the area. Shortly after 9 p.m., they said the situation had been resolved and gave residents the all-clear.

"We want to extend our gratitude to the community for your patience, cooperation, and support," the sheriff's office said in a social media post.

Authorities did not provide further details on the incident.
