5 On Your Side has come up with a list that helps children stay warm while also showing off their costumes. 

Invisible layers

Instead of adding layers over costumes, add them underneath. 

  • Buy costumes a size bigger
  • Wear long sleeve shirts or thermals
  • Buy costumes with pockets
  • Wear long socks
  • Wear stockings or leggings
  • Wear costumes that allow you to incorporate wigs and face masks

Bodywarmers

  • Hand warmers
  • Back warmers
  • Stick-on warmers
  • Feet warmers

Pack a thermos

  • Pack hot cocoa
  • Pack apple cider
  • Pack hot tea
  • Pack soup

Drive from treat to treat

  • Limit the time spent outside 
  • Keep the heat on in your car
  • Pack plenty of blankets

Move your body
