Police call for assistance when a crowd gathers after deadly shooting in Pine Lawn

It happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

PINE LAWN, Mo. — A man was shot and killed in Pine Lawn early Thursday. Police had to call for assistance after a large crowd turned out after the shooting.

The result was a chaotic scene near Bircher Street and Jennings Station Road. 

North St. Louis County police at the scene told 5 On Your Side a man was shot near the intersection of Jennings Station Road and Stratford Avenue.  The shooting reportedly happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the man ran through the neighborhood after being shot and collapsed in a backyard near Rosewood Avenue, about a block from where the shooting occurred.

The victim died at the scene. Police have not released the victim's identity. 

The St. Louis County Police Department said it was called to assist with crowd control after the shooting.
