Shooting at south St. Louis house party leaves teen dead, 2 others injured

The shooting broke out as teens were partying at an Airbnb.

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation Sunday morning into a deadly shooting in south city.

Police said a victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds just after 3:30 a.m. in the area of South Compton Avenue and Potomac Street, near Gravois Park. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as 17-year-old Iarvera Hale from St. Louis. 

A second victim, a 16-year-old boy, was found with a gunshot to his leg. He was taken to a local hospital and had stable vital signs, St. Louis police said. 

A third victim suffered a small laceration to their head after being "pistol-whipped," police said.

The shooting happened during a teen party at a vacant house used as an Airbnb, a neighbor told 5 On Your Side.

The Homicide Division was requested and is leading the investigation.
