Man critically injured after being shot in north St. Louis

Police did release any further information about the shooting incident or further updates about the victim.

ST. LOUIS — A man was critically injured after being shot in north St. Louis Wednesday night. 

According to St. Louis police, the shooting happened just after 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 3900 block of Greer Avenue, a few blocks south of Fairground Park, near the border of the city's Greater Ville and Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhoods. Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his head. 

He was unconscious and barely breathing when rushed to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Police said he was not expected to survive.

Homicide investigators have been called to the scene.
