ST. LOUIS — A 70-year-old man was injured Sunday afternoon during a shooting, according to police. Officers previously said the victim was a 7-year-old boy.

The shooting happened at about 3:50 p.m. in the 4500 block of Maryland Avenue in the Central West End, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

The man told police he was lounging by a pool when he was hit by a bullet that "fell from the sky," police said.

Officers at the scene saw the victim had been shot in the right thigh. EMS took the victim to a local hospital where he was listed with stable vital signs.

No additional information was released about the victim or the shooting.
