Man killed in Sunday morning shooting named

ST. LOUIS — The man found wounded by several gunshots in St. Louis' Hyde Park early Sunday has been identified.

A resident of St. Louis' Penrose neighborhood, Terrelle Porter, 42, died at the scene of the north St. Louis shooting that happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.

St. Louis police officers found Porter near N 21st and Ferry streets.

According to a written report from SLMPD, Porter was not conscious or breathing when they found him. Emergency Medical Services were sent to the scene. Medical technicians declared the victim dead.

Officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the area after a ShotSpotter was activated by the sound of gunfire.

SLMPD's Homicide Division is leading the investigation.
