ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A contractor has been chosen to demolish the long-vacant Jamestown Mall in north St. Louis County.
The St. Louis County Port Authority on Thursday approved a resolution selecting Target Contractors, LLC to tear down the mall, which sits on 140 acres along N. Lindbergh Boulevard in Florissant.
A release from the St. Louis County Council Chairwoman Shalonda Webb announcing the resolution did not mention when demolition was expected to begin.
"While this is a very important next step, this process is far from over," Webb said in the release. "...Now we can all work to together immediately start the process of finding a developer that will provide a property that the people of the community can use and be proud of. I will not let North County be shortchanged in this process, again."
The mall, which opened in 1973, has long been eyed for redevelopment since it shuttered in 2014.
