71-year-old man killed when motorcycle hits deer in Pike County, Illinois

PIKE COUNTY, Ill. — A Jerseyville, Illinois, man was killed Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer in Pike County, Illinois.

The Pike County Sheriff's Department said the crash happened at around 4 p.m. on State Highway 100, about 2 miles south of Pearl.

John M. Roos, 71, was driving northbound when he struck a deer that ran into his path. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Spring Creek Fire Department and Pike County EMS assisted with the crash.
