1 dead after Thursday night shooting in north St. Louis

The shooting happened just before midnight Thursday on Bayard Avenue.

ST. LOUIS — A man was killed late Thursday night after a shooting in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of Bayard Avenue, near Page Avenue. There, officers discovered a victim on the ground with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police said the victim was taken to an area hospital, where he later died due to his injuries. He was not identified as of Friday morning.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

Cure Violence is an international organization that is present in a handful of St. Louis neighborhoods. Violence interrupters are trained to de-escalate violent situations within their own communities.
