Crash in north St. Louis leaves 1 dead Sunday morning

Police said the vehicle hit a building and caught fire.

ST. LOUIS — A man died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning. 

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said a Nissan of unknown model was driving north in the 3100 block of N. Broadway at about 2 a.m. when the crash happened. 

Police said the Nissan veered to the right of the roadway, left the road and crossed over Branch Street and crashed into a building. 

The Nissan caught fire and was completely incinerated, police said. 

The fire department put out the vehicle fire, where the driver, 23-year-old Angelo Hughes of St. Louis, was located inside the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead on scene. On May 9, he was identified as 23-year-old Angelo Hughes.

Accident Reconstruction is investigating the crash.
