Man shot inside Soulard bar overnight

The victim was in critical condition at an area hospital. He was shot in the head and the stomach, police said.

ST. LOUIS — A man in his 20s was shot several times inside a bar in Soulard early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday at Henry's in Soulard, a bar located at 825 Allen Ave.

St. Louis police Lt. Matthew Karnowski told 5 On Your Side at the scene that police were called at about 12:45 a.m. to the bar. Karnowski said officers found a man inside the bar when had been shot in the head and stomach. He was conscious and breathing when rushed to an area hospital.

As of Thursday morning, the victim was in critical condition with unstable vitals.

Due to his condition, homicide detectives have assumed the investigation.

No further information about the victim has been released.

St. Louis police are investigating the shooting and searching for a suspect, Karnowski said.
