Man charged in fatal September shooting in downtown St. Louis

Nicholas Taylor, of Ferguson, was shot and killed in a September triple shooting.

ST. LOUIS — A 30-year-old Jennings man was arrested following a triple shooting that left a man dead in September.

George Gholston, 30, of Jennings, is facing first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm charges. 

On Sept. 5, police responded to the shooting at 11:50 p.m. along the first block of Leonor K Sullivan Boulevard near downtown St. Louis. Once there, they found 30-year-old Nicholas Taylor, of Ferguson, lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Gholston, Taylor, a 26-year-old woman, and a 25-year-old man got into a brief confrontation. As Taylor was walking away, he was shot in the back of the neck. 

The 26-year-old woman was later discovered at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm, police said. The 25-year-old man was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

Cure Violence is an international organization that has recently launched in a handful of St. Louis neighborhoods. Violence interrupters are trained to deescalate violent situations within their own communities.
