St. James High School evacuated due to bomb threat, no threat found

Law enforcement officials responded to the high school after being notified a student received a message regarding the threat.

ST JAMES, Mo. — St. James High School was evacuated due to a report of a bomb in the building Thursday afternoon.

St. James R-1 School District's Facebook confirmed law enforcement officers were on-site and evacuated the building Thursday afternoon.

The St. James Police Department released a statement via their Facebook page regarding the incident.

They stated they were notified by St. James School District regarding a student receiving a message indicating there was a bomb inside the school. All students and staff were moved to safety.

A search was conducted with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), Missouri State Highway Patrol, Doolittle Police Department and St. James Fire Protection District.

The building was cleared and no explosive devices were found, according to the Facebook post.

The St. James R-1 School District also released a press release regarding the incident. It stated the school is taking this matter seriously and appropriate action will take place.

Release for students was delayed due to the threat and was slowly starting at around 3 p.m.

The district's Facebook post said that vehicles in or near the high school parking lot will not be able to move until they are cleared by local law enforcement. Vehicles are able to pick it up Thursday evening, according to the district's updated post.

St. James School District will be back open tomorrow for classes.
