ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. — Police have identified human remains that were found near an intersection in St. Francois late Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, the remains were identified as those of 38-year-old Christopher Brian Chrisco, of Bismarck, Missouri. He had not been reported missing at the time the remains were discovered.

A press release from the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department said the remains were found near Chalk Hill Road and Missouri Route 221 Tuesday. The release said a resident who lives in the area found the remains.

The press release said the remains appeared to have been there for several months.

They were identified by distinguishable tattoos on the remains and other evidence located at the scene.

The results of an autopsy are pending, but the sheriff's department said they do not suspect any foul play.
