ROBERTSVILLE, Mo. — Police were looking for a mother who they said took her 9-year-old daughter for an overnight visit last week in Robertsville, Missouri.

According to an endangered person report from the Hermann Police Department, the mother is the non-custodial parent of her daughter. The child's father gave the woman permission to take the girl for a visit on March 31 for an overnight stay. The mother did not return with their daughter the next day.

Police said the woman's car was found Monday near where a car was stolen in Cole County. Police said the woman has a history of mental health but did not provide more details.

Police released an update late Monday night stating the girl was located and that she is safe.

No further details were provided on where the young girl was located or the circumstances.

Police did not say if the mother was also located or if there were any charges expected for taking her daughter without permission.
