Man dead after shooting in Fountain Park neighborhood

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the man was found with a gunshot wound to the head shortly before 10 a.m.

ST. LOUIS — A man was fatally shot Saturday morning in St. Louis' Fountain Park neighborhood, police said.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the man was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to the head shortly before 10 a.m. on the 700 block of Aubert Avenue, about a block northeast of North Kingshighway and Delmar boulevards.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified Wednesday as Anthony Dodson, a 56-year-old who lived about a block away from the crime scene.

According to 5 On Your Side data, there have been 37 homicides in St. Louis in 2022, a decrease of 16% compared to the same time period last year.
