ST. LOUIS — A 2-year-old boy accidently shot his father in the back Saturday night, police said.
St. Louis police said the man was shot inside a home in the 1400 block of Castle Lane, south of downtown St. Louis in the Clinton-Peabody public housing complex.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders shortly before 8:45 p.m.
In a preliminary report released Sunday morning, police said the man was shot while his 2-year-old son was handling a rifle.
The man's name has not been released. Police said he was in his 20s.
The department's homicide division is investigating the incident.
