Storm Alert | Flash Flood Watch for much of the St. Louis region

Thunderstorms develop early Tuesday morning and will continue into Wednesday morning

ST. LOUIS — Overnight storms will pick up and could produce very heavy rainfall. Along with heavy rain, frequent thunder and lightning will make for a noisy wake-up early in the morning. A Flash Flood Watch has been posted by the National Weather Service through Wednesday morning.

The heaviest rainfall will be concentrated from around Interstate 70 and northward. Anywhere from 2-4 inches of rain is expected, and this could lead to fast-rising streams and creeks. A few isolated areas could even see upwards of 5", but it will not be widespread.

Remember to never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

The weather is expected to cool slightly on Tuesday with highs in the 80s, but 90s return late this week along with drier conditions. The Fourth of July looks hot and humid with highs near 93.
