Storm Alert | Severe storms develop again Saturday afternoon

Muggy, warm conditions will help storms grow

ST. LOUIS — When the day starts off warm and muggy and storms are in the forecast, it's almost a sure bet that some of those thunderstorms will grow in intensity.

Saturday is one of those days. Severe storms will develop across the Midwest.

All of the 5 On Your Side coverage area is under a risk category from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center. Most counties are under an enhanced risk (orange), which means numerous severe storms are possible . A few counties are under a slight risk (yellow), which means scattered severe storms are possible.

Large, damaging hail is once again a possibility. Friday night, thunderstorms tracked through Missouri dropping up to tea cup size hail (three inches). 

Tornadoes may also develop during severe storms Saturday afternoon and evening.

Our weather will settle down by midnight, but it will still be gusty through Sunday. Quieter weather is in the forecast for the week ahead.
