15-year-old found shot in arm inside car pulled over on south St. Louis interstate

The teen's friend was driving him to the hospital when an officer pulled them over for driving erratically, police said

ST. LOUIS — A 15-year-old was found shot inside a car that an officer pulled over for driving erratically on a St. Louis interstate Monday morning.

Police said the actual shooting happened just before 10 a.m. in Carondelet Park. The teen said he was sitting with friends on a bench near the Carondelet Park Boathouse when he heard two gunshots and felt pain in his arm.

After he realized he had been shot, his friend tried to drive him to the hospital but was pulled over a few minutes later on Interstate 55 near Utah Street for driving erratically.

The officer called an ambulance and the boy was taken to the hospital, where police haven't released his condition, but said his vitals were 'stable.'

No one else was injured. Police are investigating the shooting.
