ST. LOUIS — Wild winds whipped across the bi-state region early Wednesday. The highest winds around the St. Louis area were around or even a little above 60 mph. St. Louis Lambert International Airport had the highest wind gust just after 2 a.m. of 63 mph.
The strong winds caused some minor damage and scattered power outages across the area. Crews worked throughout the day to get the power back on.
Winds will be much lighter across the region overnight Wednesday into Thursday as the storm system responsible for the strong winds has moved farther away.

Clouds will be back by daybreak on Thanksgiving and with chilly conditions, and the chance of a few rain showers. Any rain is expected to be light and mostly south and west of St. Louis.
A stronger weather system will approach our area on Friday with rain developing during the afternoon and continuing off and on into Saturday.

Locally, an inch or more of rain is expected with this system as the showers and perhaps even a few rumbles of thunder wind down by Saturday evening.
