ST. LOUIS — Five people were involved in a shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition Saturday afternoon in St. Louis.

Police responded at 11:14 a.m. to the 4600 block of Richard Place in the Penrose neighborhood.

The investigation revealed Ray Acklin, a 22-year-old man, shot a 37-year-old man. The victim’s brother then shot and killed Acklin, police said.

The brother believed two women who were at the scene also were involved, so he shot into the car they were sitting in, police said. One of the women, a 27-year-old, was shot in the leg. She survived.

The 37-year-old who was shot first was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is listed in critical condition and is unstable, police reported.

The St. Louis police homicide division is handling the investigation.
