Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile Virus in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. — The Jefferson County Health Department has discovered mosquitoes that tested positive for West Nile Virus in Kimmswick and Arnold.

A press release from the health department said the mosquitoes were collected at the end of June. The release said Kimmswick had conducted mosquito control.

The health department is encouraging residents to take precautions where mosquitoes are active. They say to wear long sleeves or using insect repellents with 20 to 50 percent DEET or Picaridin.
